Data Protection Compliance

 The Protection of Personal Information
Act (POPIA) came into effect on 01
July 2020. All companies and
organisations in South Africa (except
those with exemption from the
government) were required to comply
by 30 June 2021. Non-compliance
penalties include fines of up to R10
million and or up to 10 years in prison.
